Melissa Peace Tomaino is an Associate in our Northeast offices, handling New Jersey and New York General Liability and Workers’ Compensation Matters. She has been practicing in the tri-state area since 2012. Throughout her career, she has devoted her practice to successfully representing and defending major insurance carriers and third-party administrators in premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, multi-party construction defect claims, vertical transportation cases and subrogation matters. Melissa has had former experience being on the other side of the fence, which gave her valuable insight when she started her defense practice. The key to her success has been keeping in close contact with her clients, including pre-suit, to determine potential exposure, to ensure that they are always kept updated on every matter, and to bring claims to a resolution as quickly and efficiently as possible.
In the past, Melissa has represented victims of domestic violence to receive ex parte emergency restraining orders in Westchester County and Yonkers County Family Courts. She has also worked with an immigration rights clinic to help those seeking asylum receive their entitled protections under the law. Currently, Melissa volunteers her time in conjunction with New Jersey Legal Services in order to help clients navigate the process of expunging their criminal records in order to re-build their lives.
After spending many years living in the greater New York City area, Melissa is grateful to have returned home to the Jersey Shore, where she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, listening to the latest true crime podcast, and enjoying everything that the area has to offer.
